Welcome to my website! I am a designer/maker of
constructed textiles. Having started as a
weave designer, I
have also produced collections of tufted rugs and wallhangings, but now
mainly specialise in machine knitted and felting to produce a range
of garments, soft furnishings and accessories.
Click on the gallery options to find out more about my work, workshops and project commissions. Living in the Derbyshire Peak District, the elements of colour, texture and form are central influences on my work. I use wool sourced from British spinners, from Yorkshire and Scotland, which I process using only eco friendly products. I am becoming increasingly involved with using locally produced wool from specialist suppliers who have the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark, embracing not only the feel of the locality but also its sustainability. At present, every item I produce is a ‘one off,’ so the images in the gallery are indicative of my work, and will not necessarily be repeated. You may find my work for sale in the Pump Room in Buxton, with work from the High Peak Artists and Craft Workers' Association, which is open daily from Easter till Christmas, and at designer fairs with Peak District Products. If
you would like to meet with me in person to discuss a commission or
idea, then please arrange to call at my studio where the work is
produced, and from where I run selective workshops . I hope you enjoy the site, and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about its content. Christine
